The Two RV Gypsies
are no longer FULL-timing in their RV due to lack of funds (at least
for awhile). But they still took as many RV trips as possible and/or
some car trips in 2024. They are NOT poor, and NOT complaining, but
they over-spent on previous trips while enjoying life on the road with
NO regrets since 2008. But they will continue to travel as
much as possible, either by RV or by car. Finances are limiting their
travel, but life is still amazing, and they will travel as much as possible.

the map.
Also, Lee and Karen Duquette took a
CRUISE
to the Bahamas in February 2024 for two reasons - for better weather
and to take their 37th Segway tour. Check out the link there and other
places in the menu below.

Driving
through Connecticut and New York - July 7 |

Mass - July 10 - Fall
River Heritage State Park, Battleship Cove, Newberry Hall Torpedo
Boat Exhibit and five National Historic Landmarks: Battleship USS Massachusetts,
Destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., Attack submarine Lionfish, and PT Boats
617 and 796 - plus Vietnam helicopters, and lots of HISTORY.

 On
July 13th, Lee Duquette fell and took Karen Duquette down with him
(they were holding hands at the time). They both had injuries, but Lee
LOOKED the worse, because his injuries were on his face. He healed in
a few days.
Karen Duquette got a double fracture to her right hand and right
elbow, plus a swollen left elbow. Both elbows were black-and-blue as
were both hips and other places, including her butt.
Lee Duquette got a nasty cut and big bruise and cut on his face which
was a big worry for awhile, even though he did NOT seek medical help.
This caused Karen Duquette's sister, Ilse Blahak, to return to California
a bit sooner than planned so Karen could seek proper medical treatment.
(this was all typed with just Karen's left hand, which only had a very
SWOLLEN and black and blue elbow). Her right hand was completely useless
September 15th - that was a full 2-months, and of course she is right
handed. Her right wrist still hurts, but is useable. (Update - Karen
finally got surgery in 2015)
Karen did not tell Lee nor her sister Ilse that her arm was injured
until she was sure Lee was ok. Karen and Ilse were really worried about
Lee because his face was swollen and black and blue and he looked awful.
The the AFTER the fall, Karen mentioned her arm and went to the emergency
room in Rhode Island and found out the extent of her injuries.They still
spent a couple more days in the area, playing tourist, even though Karen's
right arm was in a sling. They could not return to their home base and
Karen's doctor until Ilse could get her flight back to California changed.
Note: Karen is right handed, so it was a real bummer that it took two
months time before she could use her right hand, even though some pain
is still in her wrist. Lots of pain remains in her right shoulder. |
It took a few days to change
Ilse's flight so in the meantime, they still explored more in Rhode
Island. It will take more than Karen's right arm wrapped up tightly
and in a sling to keep Karen Duquette down. |

July 16 - Time to take Karen's sister
to the airport, then spend the remainder of the day in the hotel. -

BELOW: Karen Duquette made a new friend while in the
waiting room of her doctor's office in North Carolina. Karen hopes
her own wait time is not as long as her friend's wait time seems to
be.

NORTH CAROLINA |
Finally, it was time
to head to the Monster Jam which Lee Duquette already paid for several
months before he and Karen got hurt. The Monster Jam could NOT be canceled
because the money would NOT be refunded. This was already scheduled
to be the end of the above trip, which obviously got cut short by 10
days. |

No other travels in
August 2024 so that Karen Duquette could relax and let her right wrist,
elbows, both hips and her right shoulder heal from her fall on July
13th. Yes, it took 2 months to get better, but her right wrist and right
shoulder still hurts. |

15, 2024 - Finally, Karen Duquette is able to mostly use her right hand,
even though there is still some minor pain in her wrist. Hip Hip Hooray!!
But her right shoulder still hurts and she cannot lift her right arm
very high, so getting dressed is painful.
