Conveniently
located here are five National Historic Landmarks.
(1) Battleship Massachusetts,
(2) Destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy Jr.,
(3) Attack Submarine Lionfish,
(4 - 5) and PT Boats 617 and 796.
Individually, each ship represents different moments in history and
technical achievements.

This ship went through 35 battles in WWII, gunned down 39 aircraft and
5 ships, yet never lost a man in combat.
History: In 1942. the dark stain of Fasism threatened
to swallow the globe whole. But streaking east from America was the
mst powerful fighting vessel in the world, the USS Massachusetts. It
raced to North africa, and bristling with guns, she cast a menacing
shadow toward French Morocco. |

The USS Massachusetts commanded the guns
that fired the fist and last American sixteen-inch shells in battle
during WWII. |

(2) Destroyer
Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. - DD850 |
It is the
only American vessel to board a Soviet-chartered vessel during the 1962
Cuban Missile Crisis., It also served as a Space Capsule recovery vessel
for the Gemini Program. It earned two battle stars in the Korean War.
