Lee and Karen Duquette
at Kingwood Hall Mansion
in Mansfield, Ohio
July 1, 2024
|
Kingwood Hall
is the former home of Charles Kelley King, who in 1893 was hired as
the first electrical engineer at the Ohio Brass Company. King rose through
the ranks to eventually become President and Chairman of the Board,
and in 1926, started construction on the French provincial–style
mansion.
King left most of his estate to the private foundation that continues
to operate Kingwood Center Gardens today. Following his wishes, his
garden estate and home opened to the public in 1953. Kingwood Hall,
the mansion where he lived, is open to visitors and maintains most of
its original furnishings and decor.
Some rooms on the third floor are open for guided tours following
recent restoration efforts in the bedchambers of the King family and
house staff. But this tour was not available when Lee and Karen Duquette
ere hers. Guided tours of Kingwood Hall are on Fridays and Sundays at
11 a.m. and 1 p.m. |
