At the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum, Lee and Karen Duquette
and Ilse Blahak became part of an re-enactment of the famous event
that forever changed the course of American history through a multi-sensory
experience that included live actors, interactive exhibits, and full-scale
replica 18th-century sailing vessels! And they got to throw the tea
overboard.

Below: Then it was time for
Karen and Lee Duquette and Karen's sister, Ilse Blahak to enter The
Boston Tea Party reenactment and step back in time to rebellious 1773
Boston, where they met "Samuel Adams" – the
18th century host! They started their journey by learning about the
“single most important event leading up to the American Revolution”
– the Boston Tea Party – where it all began during
the colonial town meeting. |
Below: Some of the young spectators
were given instructions on how they can speak and be a small part of
the colonial town meeting. |
Their speeches motivated the audience to
participate with loud approval. |
Below: Then it was time to
go through the doorway to the lower deck of the ship, and up the stairs
to he upper deck of the ship. |
Below: Finally on the open air deck deck of the full-scale replica
18th century sailing vessel, everyone learned more about the Boston
Tea Party of 1772.
Below: Then it wa s time for the "Destruction
of the Tea" as each person took their turn at throwing tea
into the very same body of water where the Boston Tea Party took place
over 240 years ago. |
Below: Ilse Blahak really
enjoyed throwing the tea high into the air , then watching it fall into
the the water. |
Below: Then it was Karen Duquette's
turn to toss the tea into the waters, but of course she struggled a
bit because she only had use of her left hand. |
Below: Then it was Lee Duquette's turn to toss the tea into the
waters with ease. He really seemed to enjoy his part in this "tea-party
destruction.
Below: While others were busy
throwing tea overboard, Karen Duquette found time to explore the boat
a bit. |
Below: Ilse Blahak and her
sister, Karen Duquette even got to steer the boat. - Yeah Right
!! |
Below: Karen Duquette noticed a party boat
going by. |
Below: Then it was time to exit the vessel
and enter Abigail's Tea Room where tea could be sampled at a cost and
bought along with souvenirs, of course. |
Below: Lee and Karen Duquette
took time to read the list of Participants of the Boston Tea Party.
So many people walked right by this sign without even noticing it. |
