|
SCROLL
DOWN and click on the underlined words below for photos and perhaps some
history of that area.
 |
1. The two RV Gypsies wintered in
Broward County
Florida from January 2012 through April 30, 2012 - Some Photos
are posted of family and friends.
|
2. May
9, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies drove their RV to Fort Myers, Florida to take
their sister-in-law out to lunch, then on May 10th, they drove to Englewood,
Florida to visit friends for two days. Among other things, they went
to the Eagles Club for a fun night of live music, slow dancing, a good dinner,
and lots of fun with their friends. Karen and her friend PeeWee also went
to a beading class and made a bracelet. They were also in the Englewood
area in 2010 and 2011. Photos taken downtown Old Englewood
are posted here of some really pretty painted benches. |
3. May 12-14, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies went to DeLand,
Florida to visit friends, DD and Forest Pierce, that they knew when
they lived in Connecticut. While there, they took a nice walk around a
lake, went to the community center for a spaghetti and meatball dinner,
and played lots of games. Photos are posted of the scenery around the
lake area.
There is also a Flashback to January 9,
2012 of Karen, Forest, Dee Dee and Lee. |
May 15, 2012 - After an overnight stop at Atlanta South RV Resort for
a rest, the two RV Gypsies went to McDonough, Georgia on May 16, 2012
and visited some wonderful extended family members, went to dinner, and
played lots of Yahtzee, NO photos were taken during this stop. |
4. May 18 - 19, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies went to Clarksville,
Tennessee and enjoyed McGregor Park River
District, some history of Clarksville, a statue
of Wilma Rudolph, plus Historic Collinsville,
plus dinner and fun with friends, Larry and Paul. |
5. May 20, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies went to Mount
Vernon, Illinois and enjoyed Cedarhurst Center for the Arts.
This was the first stop on this trip where the two RV Gypsies did not know
anyone who lives in the area. A VIDEO OF THE RAIN AND HAIL STORM has been
posted. |
6. May 21 - 23, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies went to Hannibal,
Missouri. Photos are posted of Mark Twain's Boyhood home,
a lighthouse, Lover's Leap, Mark Twain Cave PLUS a few
photos from a 30-minute spur-of-the-moment car ride from Hannibal to Louisiana. |
7. May 24, 2012 - through June 2, 2012 The two RV Gypsies explored
Iowa and had dinner with
a friend. Check out the botanical gardens, Adventureland
Amusement Park, Living History Farms, a Sculpture
Park, Fort Custer MAZE, the site of Buddy
Holly's plane crash, the city of Clear Lake and more. |
 The
two RV Gypsies had to leave their RV at the Winnebago factory in Iowa
to get the damage from the RV fire repaired. This took six full weeks,
so the two RV Gypsies decided to drive their toad from state to state
and hotel hop until their RV got repaired - a lot of day trips because
they tried not to go too far away from Iowa in case their RV is ready
sooner. Scroll down to see where the two RV Gypsies went and what
they did during that time and throughout the rest of 2012.
|
8. June 4, 2012 - the two RV Gypsies started their
hotel hopping and went to Blue
Earth and The Jolly Green Giant, plus Redwood Falls in Minnesota on June
5, 2012. |

Dakota into Montana and explored Wibaux,
Montana. |
12b. June 8, 2012 - Then the two RV Gypsies went to Makoshika
State Park. They expected it to be a lot like Theodore Roosevelt National
Park since it wasn't that far away, but it was really quite different, and
in some ways nicer. Both places had amazing scenery. Sometimes a state park
is just as amazing as a national park. |
13. June 9, 2012 The two RV Gypsies drove Highway 24 in North Dakota
to see more of The
World's Biggest stuff. |
14. June 10, 2012 The two RV Gypsies explored the International
Peace Garden in Dunseith, North Dakota which is right on the Canadian
border so they were able to stand in one spot and be both in the
USA and Canada at the same time. How great is that! |

Shore Drive and came across many interesting things. Unfortunately,
it was a rainy day so they missed out on a lot of fabulous opportunities
to do even more that day, but they did manage to take some interesting photos. |

two RV Gypsies' adventures in South Dakota (click here to see all three
sites).

Nebraska and learned some history at the Indian Gardens.
This has nothing to do with Winnebago RVs. |
24.
June 22, 2012 The two RV Gypsies enjoyed a leisurely day at Jay
C. Hormel Nature Center In Austin, Minnesota and Lee went to the Spam
Museum. DUH! said Karen, who would not go to the Spam Museum
with Lee. |
25.
June 23, 2012 The two RV Gypsies went to La
Crosse, Wisconsin and visited the Shrine of Our Lady Guadalupe.
They also enjoyed a leisurely walk through the Riverside International
Friendship Gardens in La Crosse. |
26
- June 24, 2012 The two RV Gypsies went to Prairie
Moon Sculpture Garden & Museum in Cochrane, Wisconsin and Grandad
Bluff in La Crosse. (The photos from Grandad Bluff have been misplaced,
but the other photos from La Crosse are posted) |
June
25, 2012 was a travel day and relaxing evening - no photos taken. |
June
26 & June 27 the weather in Iowa was in the high 90's and 100
degrees, so the two RV Gypsies went to a water park. No photos were taken.
June 27 was fun at the water park, but also a a sad day because their son,
Brian Duquette, could not be on this earth to celebrate his birthday, and
that just is not right. It really hurts to know how violently Brian died,
and the hole in so many hearts will never heal. Brian is missed more than
words can say. It's not right to lose a child,
and it is twice as wrong to lose Brian the way we did. He did not deserve
that. Damn you Douglas Lively. I hope you rot in Hell some day. |
June
27-July 2, 2012 The two RV Gypsies went back to Iowa once
again because they were told that their RV would be repaired by Friday,
and it was finally ready the following Monday. They are sooooo tired of
hotel hopping and the expense, even though they had a lot of fun. So they
got their RV out of repair from the fire damage, and headed to Nebraska
to visit family they have not seen in many years. |
27
- July 3-5, 2012 The two RV Gypsies finally got to Beatrice,
Nebraska to visit Karen's sister Eileen, Karen's nephew Dan, and Dan's
two children, Danni and Jonathan. The weather was 100 to 101, but the RV
was parked in a shady spot and that helped a bit. Dan gave Karen a motorcycle
ride from Beatrice, Nebraska to a restaurant in Kansas for dinner.
It was a wonderful visit.
(FYI: Karen's sister Eileen passed away January 2015). |
28
- July 6 - 7, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies went to Kansas and the
Wizard of Oz Museum. The
temperature on these two days hit 103 with lots of humidity and the RV just
could NOT cool down enough because it was parked in the sun, not in the
shade, so they had to find indoor things to do. The museum was actually
interesting. |
July 8, 2012 - Weather
in Kansas was 105 degrees and very humid. The RV Gypsies were parked in
a campground with no shade and it was just impossible to be outdoors.
This provided time to do some RV cleaning and organizing and updating
the website. No photos taken these days because it was just too
hot to go outdoors. |
29
- July 9-10-11, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies went to Oklahoma
and went to several state parks and an outdoor windmill museum.
They stayed in a campground in Guthrie, Oklahoma and did not have any internet,
nor any cell phone service. Bad AT&T! |
30
- July 12-13, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies went to Amarillo,
Texas and they were in awe when they went to Palo Duro Canyon
and took a jeep ride down to the floor of the canyon. The Two RV Gypsies
also visited Cadillac Ranch and The Big Texan Steak
Ranch Restaurant, which has been featured on TV. |
31
- July 14, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies spent the day in Tucumcari,
New Mexico and drove around the town photographing murals.
What a pain that is - trying to follow a map around town to photograph the
murals in order, only to find cars parked in front of many of them, or that
some murals were actually inside closed up buildings. Bummer. But some nice
photos have been posted. Then the Two RV Gypsies drove to a state park hoping
to see the beautiful scenery advertised, only to find that the best parts
of the state park is only accessible by boat. But even so, the Two RV Gypsies
got some nice photos. |
32
- July 15 - 17, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies went to Albuquerque,
New Mexico and they watched a roadrunner catch a lizard.
They also went to Boca Negra Canyon to see lots of Petroglyphs,
rode up the Sandia Peak Tramway, and explored the Puye
Cliff Dwellings. |
33
- July 18 & 19, 2012 - The Two RV Gypsies visited their friends,
Jerry and Carole Gerig, in Las
Cruces, New Mexico. Only a handful of photos taken because once again,
it was just too hot to go outside. |
34 - July 20, 2012 - The Two RV Gypsies went to Wilcox, Arizona
and visited Chiricahua
National Monument, watched a double rainbow grow, and had a deer
run into the side of their car. They did not hit the deer, it ran into them.
All they heard was a thud. And since everyone keeps asking, no, the deer
did not die, it ran away. Yes, the car had more than enough damage. |

38 - July 28, 2012 - August 4, 2012 The Two RV Gypsies went to
Southern
California visiting Karen's sister Ilse, nieces, and nephews.
They visited Santa Barbara Pier, Knotts Berry Farm and the amazing Getty
Center, plus spent a lot of fun time with wonderful family. Karen was raised
in Southern California. |

Vegas, Nevada and went to Red Rock Canyon and Red Springs.
|

- check it out and have a good laugh. |
September
10-16, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies went back to Las Vegas,
mainly to see Terry Fator
- who was absolutely fantastic.

But while here they also saw The Jersey
Boys and other shows. Additional photos have been added to site #39 above
- including the Valley
of Fire on September 11, 2012 where the two RV Gypsies got
caught in a sudden flash flood. |

Abrams. Thanks Chris. |
63 - October 16, 2012 The two RV Gypsies went to to Hot
Springs National Park in Arkansas. This was very disappointing
to them. They did not realize that the national park was just a small area
within the city. However, there was a nice loop road with a tower that gave
a beautiful 360 view of the surrounding area. Then there were a row of bath
houses in the city that is the main attraction. Karen thought there would
be outdoor hot springs to relax in, like she found in other locations, but
this was indoor bathhouses with bathtubs filled with healing mineral water.
Not what Karen wanted or expected. |
64 - October 19 - 21, 2012 The two RV Gypsies continued on in
Arkansas. They have seen some really beautiful FALL FOLIAGE,
