Las Cruces, New Mexico

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Las Cruces, also known as The City of the Crosses, is the second largest city in the state of New Mexico.

Las Cruces is the economic and geographic center of the fertile Mesilla Valley, which is the agricultural region on the flood plain of the Rio Grande which extends from Hatch, New Mexico to the west side of El Paso, Texas. Las Cruces is also the home of New Mexico State University (NMSU), New Mexico's only land grant university. The city's major employer is the federal government on nearby White Sands Test Facility and White Sands Missile Range. Recently the city has been home to many of the retired from across the country. The majestic Organ Mountains, ten miles to the east, are dominant in the city's landscape, along with the Doña Ana Mountains, Robledo Mountains, and Picacho Peak.

July 18-19, 2012 - the two RV Gypsies visited their friends Jerry & Carole who live in Las Cruces. The weather was 105 degrees, so it was just too hot to do much outdoors. But the two RV Gypsies enjoyed socializing with their friends, swimming in their pool, shopping, and dining out with their friends.

The two RV Gypsies were in Las Cruces in the year 2009 and did lots of great sight-seeing at that time; White Sands, the Space Mural, Bataan Memorial Monument, The Veterans Wall, the Murals on the Las Cruces Water Tank, Las Cruces' giant roadrunner sculpture, and Mesilla. Feel free to check out the photos taken in Las Cruces in 2009 by the Two RV Gypsies. Hopefully the next time the two RV Gypsies get to Las Cruces, the weather will allow them to explore the area further.
