Eagle Canyon Adventures is
Lake Superior's Circle Tour's #1 tourist attraction. It is home to Canada's
longest suspension footbridge and longest zipline. And it is just minutes
away from the amenities the town of Dorion has to offer and only 45
minutes east of Thunder Bay. |
|
When paying for the privilege
of walking on Canada's longest suspension bridge, the lady in the office
asked the two RV Gypsies if they wanted a ride to the bridge. Lee Duquette
asked how long the walk was and she said it would take about 5 minutes.
Lee said they could walk that. But what they did not know was how STEEP
the hill was... and they soon found out that it was VERY steep.
The two RV Gypsies advise people to accept the offer to be driven
to the suspension bridge. |

Below: Karen Duquette made
it to the top of the steep hill, and a bit later the two RV Gypsies
got their first peek at the first suspension bridge. |

|
Below: Lee and Karen Duquette
walked on the first suspension bridge and enjoyed the view of the gorge
below. But, this is NOT the longest bridge. There is another suspension
bridge further along on the trail which Lee and Karen Duquette will
also go to. |
|
|
Below: This
suspension bridge is only 300 feet across and 125 feet from the bottom
of the gorge. But it was fun to walk on. |

Below: Karen Duquette got
an eagle's view of the majestic span of the bridges and the beauty of
the unique surroundings below. |

- and the beginning of the zip line. |

the side of the cliffs - and there was actually a person walking on
this staircase. |
|
Below: After a brief walk
up another hill, Lee and Karen Duquette came to the second suspension
bridge. Canada's longest walk-on suspension bridge, 600 feet long and
152 feet high. This was their first time here on these two suspension
bridges in Canada.
(Note: The Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver, Canada is only
440 feet long but it is 230 feet high, and much wider than this one.)
Lee and Karen Duquette have been on the Capilano Bridge twice before
(in 2004 and 2009). They can be seen by choosing TOC-C
and scrolling down to Capilano - Both the 2004 and the 2009 photos are
there). |

Below: Karen Duquette leaned
over the side of the bridge to photograph something amazing and Lee
Duquette took a butt shot of her. Scroll down to see what Karen Duquette
was looking at. |
|
Below: WOW! What an amazing
rock formation. And it had a yellow pail on top of it. Karen Duquette
wondered Who put it there, HOW and Why ?????? It had to be a very hard
task to accomplish. |
|
|
|
Below: A close-up of the pail
revealed that people have tried to throw money into the pail, so of
course Lee Duquette decided that is how he would use the Canadian coins
that were in his pocket. Lee and Karen Duquette both wondered who, when
and how someone would ever retrieve the money. |
|
|
Below: Views from the second
bridge, looking back over at the first bridge that Lee and Karen Duquette
walked on earlier. Signs stated that only 20 people should be on the
bridge at one time. Karen Duquette was glad that nobody else
was on the bridge while she was on it. Because YES, the bridge even
shook with JUST the two RV Gypsies on the bridge. |

|
Below: While on the bridge,
Lee and Karen Duquette watched people on the zip line which is Canada's
longest zip line, half a mile long and 175 feet high and reaching speeds
in excess of 45 mph. Lee Duquette did not want to ride the zip line
because he thought it cost too much money for a short time with only
one line. Plus both Lee and Karen have been on several other zip lines,
each with multiple lines and lasting as long as 2 hours. The one they
did in North Carolina had 4 zip lines, 2 over 2,000 feet long, and 2
over 1500 feet long with speeds up to 50 mph. So they chose not to ride
this zipline.
Other ziplines can be reached by clicking here
and scrolling down to the ziplines. But if you go there finish this
page first. |
|
|
Below: Lee and Karen Duquette looked back
at the tall rock formation with the yellow pail on top, and enjoyed
the luxury of not having anybody else on either of the suspension bridges.
This was a fun experience, even though they have been on many other
swinging bridges. They just love being RV Gypsies. |

|
|
Below: The bridge walk was
over, so Karen Duquette took a rest on a sunny rock while Lee Duquette
chose to rest across from her on a shady rock. |

Below: Lee Duquette photographed
the staircase going down into the gorge. YES, this is the same staircase
taken from the bridge and shown earlier above and shown here again. |
|
|
As Lee and Karen Duquette started down
the hill, they were glad when they saw an employee on a golf cart, because
he gave them a ride down the hill. He was very surprised that the two
RV Gypsies had walked up the hill, as most people accept the free ride
up. |
