Wednesday, July
25, 1984 was spent traveling from Paris to Switzerland. A super speed
trail called La SNCF or TGV traveled at 260 km/h (161.567 miles per
hour). The train held 275 people in second class and 111 people in first
class. It was air conditioned and very comfortable, plus one of the
most amazing rides Karen, Lee and Brian Duquette ever experienced. |

From the train
station, everyone was bussed to the hotel. While waiting for the bus
to take off, Karen Duquette saw some ice cream cones blow off the shelf
of a small ice cream stand. The sales person merely picked up the cones
out of the dirt and restacked them to sell to customers.
Before going to the hotel, the bus took everyone on a short tour of
Geneve. It was a foggy day. The most impressive thing seen was a lake
with the "Jet D'Eau", which is a jet of water spouting
60 feet up into the air. Then the bus passed the European headquarters
of the United Nations.
Upon arrival, Karen Duquette went to the ladies room and encountered
self-flushing toilets. they cannot be flushed because they flush themselves
when they feel they are full. The toilets were disgusting and the floors
were flooded. There were no doors on the toilet stalls and no toilet
paper. |

The sign below means encourages fair
play
(good sportsmanship).
So why is Brian Duquette giving out
that hand-signal???? |

places |
Geneve is distinguished as the European
headquarters of the United Nations, including the international headquarters
of the World Health Organization. In lovely Ariana Park is the U.N.
building, known as the Palace of Nations. The city is also a center
for numerous other international organizations, |

In a nearby park,
there was the Monument De La Reformation, a 90-meter long wall
featuring an impressive group of statues of four leaders of he Reformation
(Beze, Calvin, Farel and Knox) with a group of smaller figures and inscriptions
depicting the movement. |

Photos were taken from across the lake with a zoom lens on a very foggy
day. |
