Ocean Isle Beach (or simply Ocean Isle) is a small seaside
town in southwest Brunswick County, North Carolina. It was incorporated
as a town in 1959 and is part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area.
The town of Ocean Isle spans the barrier island of Ocean Isle Beach,
extending 5 miles from Tubbs Inlet on the west to Shallotte Inlet on
the east, and a section of the mainland to the north along North Carolina
Highway 904. Located at the southern end of North Carolina's Atlantic
coastline, along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Ocean Isle Beach
has private homes, seasonal rentals, and various tourist attractions.

A few jet skis
went by plus one very small boat. Of course they had to go very slowly
because it was a no-wake zone. |

Below: A very ripped USA Flag.
This is something that really annoys Karen Duquette and so she mentioned
it to the restaurant manager who said she was aware of it and a new flag
has been ordered. Hmmmmmm! Karen has to wonder
if that was just a common reaction statement to a complaint, or if it
was true. She will never know. Even so, the flag should have been taken
down long before this date. |

Below: While waiting for the
food to come, Karen Duquette laid her sunglasses on the narrow counter
in front of her and decided to take photos of their reflections in the
sunglasses. After all, everyone needs entertainment while waiting for
food. |

Below: The two RV Gypsies watched
a bird land on the wires just to the left of where they were sitting.
Then in flew down and landed on the edge of the pan holding dirty dishes
and ate some stuff off of the plates. So much for the illusion that owl
statues scare the birds away.
Actually, "a study was conducted at Linfield College in Oregon, and
it concluded that fake owls were effective bird deterrents but only
for a limited time. The strategy works because owls are natural predators
of songbirds. Cornell University also reports that plastic owls deter
birds – specifically woodpeckers – but that deterrence
lasts for only a few days. To a human being, the sight of an owl
with its piercing gaze and formidable size is impressive, but to a bird,
it must be terrifying. Owls have special feathers on their wings to mute
the sound of flapping, and they are daring flyers, sometimes attacking
directly from above in a dead drop. So the sight of an owl is a definite
incentive for a bird to go the other way." - Quote from https://sciencing.com/owl-work-scare-birds-away-4913851.html |
