Carrollwoods RV Park was built in 2009. The full service
RV Sites are all pull through, shaded and about 20 minutes from the
beach area shopping, dining, and golf. Free wi-fi is throughout the
campground and optional cable TV is available. They did not pay extra
for cable, so only a few stations came on in their RV, and none of them
came in very well. No outside firewood was allowed, but the two RV Gypsies
do not usually use the fire pit or any of the other campground amenities
other than parking on their site. They are more interested in exploring
the towns and nearby activities. Their cost for this visit was $257.07.
Most standard campground rules applied.
This campground is located on the same grounds as Grapefull Sisters
Vineyard, which has daily wine tastings and a 3-bedroom inn. Karen Duquette
enjoyed the wine tasting.
Columbus County is a county located in the U.S. state
of North Carolina, on its southeastern border. Its county seat is Whiteville
.The area comprising Columbus County was originally inhabited by the
Waccamaw people. Historically, the "eastern Siouans" had territories
extending through the area of Columbus County prior to any European
exploration or settlement in the 16th century. One of the most significant
geographic features is the Green Swamp, a 15,907-acre area in the north-eastern
portion of the county. Highway 211 passes alongside it. The swamp contains
several unique and endangered species, such as the venus flytrap. The
area contains the Brown Marsh Swamp, and has a remnant of the giant
longleaf pine forest that once stretched across the Southeast from Virginia
to Texas.

Below: As usual, the roads and
sites were dirt with a bit of gravel. This was not an easy site to get
into, and the two RV Gypsies' toad had to be parked sideways in front
of the RV. |

As shown below, there was very
little walking room between the door and side of the RV Before stepping
into unkept mulch, which was difficult to walk in. As usual, the two RV
Gypsies did not use the grill, fire ring nor picnic table. Although the
picnic table was in good condition, but very small. |
