Boone is a town located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of
western North Carolina. It is the county seat of Watauga County. The town
is named for famous pioneer and explorer Daniel Boone. Boone's elevation
is about 3,333 feet above mean sea level, which is the highest elevation
of any town of its size (over 10,000 population) east of the Mississippi
River. Nickname:The Heart of the High Country |
NOTE: On this trip in 2021, the two RV Gypsies drove to Boone, NC just to see fall colors. This is the second time that the two RV Gypsies have been to Boone, NC. The first time was in 2010 when they also went to Blowing Rock, the Zipline in Seven Devils and Grandfather Mountain. Those photos can be reached here, and a link at the bottom of that page can bring you back here. |
Below: The two RV Gypsies stopped at The Red Onion Restaurant in Boone to eat. It was very busy so they had to wait 45 minutes. The food was good, but not great. Service was good, but the server lacked personality. |

Because the below photo taken from a moving car, Karen Duquette missed part of the head. All parking spaces were in use, and the town was full of college students. |

Below: The two RV Gypsies pulled into a shopping plaza for photos of a few select trees. |
|
Below; Karen Duquette walked to the side of the shopping center's parking lot for photos of a few more colorful trees. |
|
All-in-all, the two RV Gypsies did not get the amount of fall colors they expected, so they mostly got individual trees everywhere. |
