Babcock State Park is mostly known for the Glade Creek Grist Mill, a fully functional replica of the original Cooper's Mill which once stood on the grounds. Milling is an occupation that died in the 1950s. The Glade Creek Grist Mill was built in 1976 and serves as a tribute to the hundreds of mills that once dotted the landscape in West Virginia. Below: Views from the parking lot. |
To get closer to the Glade Creek Grist Mill, the two RV Gypsies walked across the bridge (shown in the panorama above - which is also the road to the parking lot). |

Then the two RV Gypsies walked down towards the water and the Grist Mill. Of course, Karen Duquette had to stop and play in the water a bit. |

THE WATER WHEEL (Yes, It was working). Lee Duquette took some movies, but Karen does not know how to post movies. |

The two RV Gypsies walked back over the bridge to the parking lot side and went inside The Visitor Center and Gift Shop. Then they walked down a few stone steps to the left of the Visitor Center. |
Below: From the bottom of the steps, Lee Duquette took a panorama of the Visitor Center, the steps and the waterfall that is just below the Glade Creek Grist Mill. |
Below: Photos taken below the waterfall shown above and just before the drop off which forms another very short waterfall. |
