Little Switzerland is an unincorporated community in McDowell and Mitchell counties of North Carolina. It is located along NC 226A off the Blue Ridge Parkway, directly north of Marion, North Carolina and south of Spruce Pine. Elevation is 3500 feet above sea level.

historyAt this location, in 1909, the "Switzerland Company" was founded by North Carolina State Supreme Court Justice Clarkson to construct a resort village. Covenants in the rules included no alcohol and one house per lot. (this quote from From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.)

The two RV Gypsies did not explore the area as much as they should have. Little Switzerland has some of the finest mountain music, traditional square dance and more, often on a Saturday evening in July and August.

The 12-mile long motorcycle route features about 200 VERY WILD CURVES. The Diamondback links NC 226 and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The two RV Gypsies drove a short distance on this route and did not like the curves and cliffs. After witnessing a pickup truck going over the yellow line on a curve, Lee Duquette was lucky enough to be able to turn the small car that he was driving around, while nobody was coming in either direction. But their daughter and son-in-law have driven this Snake Road several times. Everyone must make their own decisions about driving this route, which is often full of motorcycles who love this road.
