The Two RV Gypsies: Full-Time RVers
at The Canadian Rockies newest attraction
The Glacier Skywalk
August 3, 2015

The Glacier Skywalk incorporates a viewing area, a cliff-edged walkway and observation deck. The award winning design features an impressive curved, glass floor walkway which is suspended 918 feet above the Sunwapta Valley. The total cost to complete the Glacier Skywalk, including consultation, environmental monitoring and assessment, planning, design and construction, was approximately CA$ 21 million (approximately US19 million).

COMPARISON FYI: In 2012, the two RV Gypsies walked on the Grand Canyon Skywalk which is suspended 4,000 feet above the Grand Canyon floor and protrudes 70 feet beyond the rim of the Canyon. (If you use this link to go there, please return back here)

August 3, 2015: The two RV Gypsies took the shuttle from the Columbia Icefields Glacier Discovery Centre to the Glacier Skywalk (which is the only way to get there). Then they walked on the cliff-edge walkway that was filled with nature inspired interpretive exhibits. (There IS a charge, which must be paid at the Discovery Centre.)

(Note: Nobody can bring a camera, purse or anything else on the Grand Canyon Skywalk. They limit the number of people on the Grand Canyon Skywalk, and they take photos and sell them to you. Those photos can be seen here but please finish this page first. And if you do use this link now, please return here afterwards. There will be a link on that page to take you back here.)

BUT HERE there are NO restrictions at the Glacier Skywalk shown here. However there were lots of people everywhere so it was difficult to take photos, not just of each other, but even the scenery photos often had somebody's hand or more in the photo.
