The two RV Gypsies drove around Winston-Salem in North Carolina looking for oddities August 4, 2014 |
Near the intersection of Peachtree and Sprague in the city limits of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, remains the sole surviving member of eight gas stations that were built to look like the Shell logo. It is literally a big, yellow-orange concrete clamshell-shaped building that was used as a gas station beginning in the 1930's. The state historic preservation commission is in the process of restoring it. |

A big, naked, tattooed, orange man sitting in a chair outside of a local store in Winston-Salem. The photos are blurry because Karen Duquette took the photos through the window of a moving car. |

Below: A big cow at a butcher shop called Thrift-Way Meats and Produce. But it was NOT the biggest cow statue the two RV Gypsies have ever seen. The biggest one is Salem Sue, in North Dakota. Use the TOC button above and choose Big Oddities to see Salem Sue and several other big cows and all kinds of oddities. |

A mural on the side of a building. It was nice, but it sure could use a cleaning. |
