Below: March 2014 - Karen Duquette and her friend Barbara Stern celebrated St. Patrick's Day and the Irish. Karen wore a different green outfit for an entire week or more. Two of them are shown below.

Below: Flanigans Restaurant held an annual Costume Contest. Karen Duquette started participating in this contest in the year 2010. She won first place in each year she participated 2010 - 2019.

This year, March 17, 2014, Karen Duquette came dressed as "Flanigan's Good Luck Charm - a Pot of Gold under a Rainbow". This costume took a lot of time to make, with Lee Duquette's help. Each year, Flanigan's advertised a $100 gift certificate as the prize and Karen Duquette was declared the winner. All of the employees were impressed with her costume, and hurried to tell Jimmy Flanigan about it. Yet, this year she was only given a $20 gift certificate. So of course she asked Jimmy Flanigan who got the $100 gift certificate and he said "NOBODY did". He decided to just give out $20 gift certificates to everyone in a costume because there were so many costumes. Karen told him that was not right as it was false advertising, so he gave her another $10 certificate. Jimmy wanted younger people to win and he told that to Karen. How Insulting !!!!!!!!!!

That is just not right! Several employees told Karen that she definitely had the best costume. Lots of people, including the other contestants were taking Karen's photo. Karen and her family and friends had a lot of fun regardless of the false advertising. Karen always brings lots of people with her to Flanigan's because of this contest and everyone spends money on food and drink.

Note: Karen's costume cost her more money to make than the amount she won, but she had a wonderful time anyway,. Actually, each year that Karen entered from 2010 until she moved out of Florida in 2019, she won first place, and every year the amount was advertised as $100, but that was not what she got each year, yet she was always declared the winner and got the biggest prize. And it must be noted that this was always a certificate to be spent only at Flanagan's Restaurant. Karen and her family always spent more than that each St. Patrick's day there.
