The Other Place was started in 1970 on “College Hill” in Cedar Falls, Iowa and was primarily a college bar that served and delivered pizza. The Other Place has since become widely renowned and is recognized as a memorable part of the “college experience” by generations of UNI students across the country.

The Other Place II and III were opened in 1976, 1977 in Waverly and Evansdale, Iowa. The menu was expanded to accommodate a full-service restaurant and bar with roughly double the seating capacity as the original.

The Eighties brought two new additions to The Other Place family, Clear Lake in 1981 and Mason City in 1989. The Clear Lake location features a huge outdoor party deck and an exclusive “backyard BBQ” menu that has become a summertime favorite for locals.

.UNHAPPY FACE However, the two RV Gypsies ate at The Other Place in Clear Lake Iowa and were disappointed that there was not a lot of real dinner choices. There were a lot of pizza choices, sandwiches and some salads. Karen had the lasagna which was cold and mostly consisting of pasta and lots of cheese plus 2 thin slices of ham luncheon meat and sauce of course. Lee's Chicken Alfredo was not pleasing to him.

Note: The above comments are just the experience of the two RV Gypsies. These comments do not make the restaurant good or bad in general.
