Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park plaque

The War Memorial is the centerpiece of the Memorial Waterfront Park. The park honors LOCAL war veterans and has stunning views of the Ravenel Bridge and the Cooper River. The names of dozens of local war veterans who were killed in action are displayed alongside the sculpture.

Renowned sculpture Raymond Kaskey, who is known for creating the National WWII Memorial in Washington D.C., created this sculpture to represent the contradictory emotions of loss and hope.
