The two RV Gypsies,
and their friends from way-back in their military days, rented kayaks
from Sugar Valley Canoe Rentals and paddled through Turkey Run State
Park on a 3-mile kayak trip on Sugar Creek (longer trips were also available).
They paddled underneath 2 historic covered bridges (the same covered
bridges that they toured two days ago).
They enjoyed the beauty of Sugar Creek by drifting through its valleys in kayaks. The water level was low, and they had to get out of their kayaks and pull their kayaks to deeper water several times. This was the first time the two RV Gypsies ever kayaked. They usually just rented canoes. They learned that they like kayaks better than canoes (as long as they are open-air kayaks).
Sugar Creek has a "carry-in, carry-out" policy for trash. Trash bags were available at the office. There are fines of $500 or more for littering Sugar Creek. No Styrofoam coolers or glass containers allowed on Sugar Creek.
Swimming is outlawed and Conservation Officers have been known to ticket those who are swimming within the State Parks. A refundable deposit was required. |

Karen and Sharon were in the U.S. Navy together. Lee Duquette was in
the Marine Corp. and Terry Dickerson was in the Air Force. They all
met when they were all stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Sharon was
the maid-of-honor at Karen and Lee's wedding. Good friends forever. |
