The two RV Gypsies at The Terrace Bay Lighthouse |
The Terrace Bay Lighthouse is located in the Simcoe Plaza shopping area. |
The Terrace Bay Lighthouse opened on July 12, 2011 and is a 50 foot replica of the lighthouse at the Slate Islands which is the tallest lighthouse on the Great Lakes at 224 feet above sea level. The Terrace Bay Lighthouse is situated in the main downtown core at the Simcoe Plaza intersection on the Trans Canada Highway. Visitors can climb up into the lighthouse via the staircase inside and experience incredible views of Lake Superior, the Slate Islands, and the rest of the Municipality. There is a viewfinder on the observation platform. |
The Terrace Bay Lighthouse has open slats - below is a view through the open slats from outside the lighthouse and also from inside the lighthouse. |

The stairs inside the Terrace Bay Lighthouse. The two RV Gypsies chose not to climb the stairs since the lighthouse is situated in a shopping plaza, and not near the water. |
The Terrace Bay Lighthouse was constructed in July 2011 as part of the $3 million downtown revitalization project. |
