The Terrace Bay Lighthouse opened on July 12, 2011 and is a 50 foot replica of the lighthouse at the Slate Islands which is the tallest lighthouse on the Great Lakes at 224 feet above sea level. The Terrace Bay Lighthouse is situated in the main downtown core at the Simcoe Plaza intersection on the Trans Canada Highway. Visitors can climb up into the lighthouse via the staircase inside and experience incredible views of Lake Superior, the Slate Islands, and the rest of the Municipality. There is a viewfinder on the observation platform.

The stairs inside the Terrace Bay Lighthouse. The two RV Gypsies chose not
to climb the stairs since the lighthouse is situated in a shopping plaza,
and not near the water. Besides, Karen Duquette has climbed up several
lighthouse stairs in the past, but it is not a favorite activity for
Lee Duquette. |
