Bear Lake is a scenic trail head and destination in Rocky Mountain National Park. Sitting at an elevation of 9,450 feet, the alpine lake rests beneath the sheer flanks of Hallett Peak and the Continental Divide. The lake was formed during the ice age by a glacier. The trail that the two RV Gypsies walked is the Lakeshore Trail, which is the most-visited trail in Rocky Mountain National Park, due to the convenient access from Bear Lake Road. It was an easy walking, level 1/2 mile loop trail with beautiful reflections in the lake, and numerous views of the famous Longs Peak. |
