DeSoto Falls
|
The Waterfalls got their name from a legend that tells of the finding of a piece of armor near the falls. It is believed that the armor belonged to DeSoto or one of his fellow explorers. |

along the trail leading to the upper falls - about a mile and a half,
round trip. The easiest hiking trail ever experienced by the two RV Gypsies. |
|
The upper falls (shown below) are the actual DeSoto Falls . The ascent is easy, rolling up and down, broken by long flat stretches in deep wood groves. Occasionally the visible creek makes a soothing gurgle and the falls themselves are worth the trip. Just before you reach these falls you cross a bridge, then turn into the side cove containing the falls. A brief ascent takes you to the observation deck. | |

The lower falls trail is only a 1/4 mile hike
- getting there was mostly uphill. The lower waterfall drops 35 feet |

There is a third waterfall,
known as the middle falls, but it was unreachable. |
