July 30, 1965 - Karen Rasmussen asked Lee Duquette (a U.S. Marine) to be her date at the Waves Anniversary Party. Sharon Melander and her date (also a U.S. Marine) was with them.

November 10, 1965, Lee Duquette asked Karen Rasmussen to the Marine Corps. Ball and that is when Lee asked Karen to marry him. Sharon Melander was with them, along with her date, Ron.
