The Jasper Skytram is the highest and
longest aerial tramway located in Canada, as of this date. It was built
in 1964 and goes to a height of 7,472 feet above sea level. It is
a ten minute drive from downtown Jasper, Alberta and crests The Whistlers
Mountain. It is roughly 230 km north of Lake Louise along the Icefields
Parkway (Highway 93). |

Below: What a nice, relaxing, pleasant adventure this
was for Lee and Karen Duquette as they enjoyed a leisurely ride up the
mountain in a gondola to view wonderful vistas below. The ride was a breeze,
and there was a little narrative by the gondola pilot while ascending
the mountain. |

To really get your money's worth, hike up
to the top. Wear good walking shoes and carry a windbreaker as it is windy
and cold at the top. Be prepared to go slowly as the oxygen is a little
thinner way up there. But once there, it is said to be like you are on
top of the world. You can catch any tram back. Note: Lee Duquette did
not want to go all the way to the top of the summit, even though Karen
wanted to. So they did not. But they both still enjoyed the scenery and
the day. |

Karen Duquette read the sign and said, "Three hour hike. WOW.
NO thanks! That is what the tram is for." |
