The Village of Terryville, Connecticut is on the eastern edge of Litchfield
County and an easy commute to Bristol.
The village of Plymouth is on the western side of the township. The
town also has a business park and some factories. Lee and Karen Duquette
have lived in both Bristol and in Terryville, Connecticut, many years
ago while raising two children. But eventually they had to move because
there was no work for Lee in Connecticut. It was hard to leave the rest
of the Duquette family, and friends that they had at that time.

 Karen
and Lee Duquette and their two children lived in Terryville, Connecticut
in the 1970's. The two photos below are from an early stage of their house
that Lee designed and built himself (except for the chimney and two fireplaces)
on two-acres of land. Lee improved the house and both lots after these
photos was taken in August 1971. That is Lee Duquette in the driveway
that was not yet finished. Of course they added shutters and more to the
house and fixed up both the front and the back yard. Behind the backyard
was 14 acres of land-locked land owned by someone else. Karen and her
children used to go blueberry and blackberry picking in the woods. There
is a link at the bottom of this page that can let you see more of the
Terryville house in the 1970s as it was being built from the ground up. |

In
2008, The two RV Gypsies drove by the house and discovered that although
the people who bought it from them still lived there, the house was up
for sale and sadly, they had NOT taken care of it. Their son was in the
driveway at the time, and he was not very polite to Lee and Karen. They
had sold off the extra lot that Lee previously owned and destroyed the
in-ground pool that was in the backyard. No photos were taken in 2008. |

As time passed, Karen and Lee Duquette were
invited to re-visit their previous house by the new owner, Rich Lechthaler,
who is fixing up the house. So when they decided to take a trip to Connecticut
in 2025, they contacted Rich and enjoyed a lovely visit with him and
a tour of the amazing way he has fixed up the house.
