Tulsa is located in the northeastern
corner of Oklahoma, 105 miles northeast of Oklahoma City; situated between
the edge of the Great Plains and the foot of the Ozarks in a generally
forested region of rolling hills. |

Praying Hands in Tulsa
Oklahoma is a symbolic symbol at the entrance of Oral Roberts University.
It is a bronze sculpture in the shape of praying hands. |
|
These hands are 60 feet tall,
weighing 30 tons, making them the world’s largest bronze sculpture.
One would like to imagine that they are strong, American hands, but
evangelist Oral Roberts outsourced their casting to Juarez, Mexico in
1980. The Praying Hands were then shipped to Tulsa, Oklahoma. One hand
is from a casting of Oral’s hand and the other is from a casting of
his son Richard’s hand. |
|
|
The ultra-detailed hands are
forever locked in a prayer that even if it is unanswered, can certainly
not be missed. They may even be seen from the airplane when touching
down in Tulsa. |
