Bricktown is an entertainment district just east of
downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was formerly a major warehouse
district. The major attractions of the district are the Chickasaw
Bricktown Ballpark, the navigable Bricktown Canal, and the Centennial
Land Run Monument.

was buying the boat tickets, Karen Duquette heard an orange WITCH YELL
"Help, I Fell and I can not get up" so of course,
Karen kindly helped the witch to her feet.

There were a lot of people
already waiting to get on the boat. So while waiting to board the boat,
Karen Duquette took a couple of photos. |

The two RV Gypsies took a
40-minute trip on the Bricktown Water Taxi through Bricktown, from the
eastern edge of downtown all the way to the northern edge of the Oklahoma
River. All taxis were staffed by ambassadors that narrated points of
interest along the way and gave a feel for the unique history and culture
of the area. Karen Duquette thought the narrator was hard to understand
and since they were last to be seated on the water taxi, she was unhappy
with her seat, and would not take photos. So Lee Duquette took all of
the below photos. |

Run Monument commemorating The Oklahoma Land Run of 1889 was
almost 25 years in the making. The tireless efforts of several visionary
Oklahomans, generous contributions form a trio of initial donors, and
extensive funding support from the city of Oklahoma City, the federal
government, and the state of Oklahoma have ultimately resulted in a
monumental bronze sculpture unlike any other in the world |

|
The monument of 45 figures
depicting participants in the 1889 opening of The Unassigned Lands.
Built to larger than life scale, the sculptures meander along the southern
edge of Bricktown. 38 people are portrayed as well as 3 wagons, a cannon,
a dog and 34 horses. There is even a scared jackrabbit in the mix! |
|
|
A highlight of the monument
shows a parting of the wagon train at the area where Bricktown Canal
passes through the park. The imagery describes the feelings of the horses
as they shy away from the water. |
