3 of 3 -The Storybook Sculpture Project
searching in The Adamson-Spaulding Sculpture Garden
for more storybook characters
1008 N 6th Street, Abilene, TX
|
The two RV Gypsies
had to drive to this area because it was not near the other sculptures.
Once inside The Adamson-Spaulding Sculpture Garden, Karen Duquette looked
through the beautiful row of iron fences and photographed her car. Then
she stopped to read the monuments shown below. |

The garden is
located on the southeast lawn of the Abilene Convention Center and contains
several sets of storybook sculptures commissioned by the Abilene Cultural
Affairs Council. The garden was created in 2017 with the addition of
sculptures inspired by the picture book art of Garth Williams, including
“Charlotte’s Web,” “Stuart Little” and the Little Golden Book “Three
Bedtime Stories.”
New sculptures are added each year during the Children's Art &
Literacy Festival based on characters illustrated by the summer artist
on exhibit at the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature
in Abilene.
The garden is free to visit and open day and night with special nighttime
lighting. To request to use the garden for a special event, please contact
the council at 325-677-1161 or email info@abilenecac.org |
