TRACK INFORMATION

  • Built in 1961 after Robinwood Speedway in Gastonia, North Carolina was closed.

  • The Harrison family and legendary race promoter Humpy Wheeler first opened the track.

  • 4/10 mile oval

  • Home of the Annual Shrine 100

  • Home of the King of the Carolinas

  • 14.784 is the Super Late Model track record held by Chris Ferguson

  • Known as ‘The Action Track’

  • Gates open at 5:00 PM with Racing at 8:00 PM

Each Friday night, a mascot usually throws lots of candy to the children.

The two RV Gypsies returned to Carolina Speedway, July 20, 2019 because the Sprinters were racing. The announcer said they are the fastest cars that will be seen in South Carolina. They need to be pushed in order to start.

Below: Each Friday night, a mascot throws lots of candy to the children. The great-grandson of the two RV Gypsies, Anthony, got so much candy that his pockets were bulging and his pants were falling down. On this night, the mascot was Captain Carolina.
