The Two RV Gypsies: Full-Time RVers, in their RV

Traveling from Squamish to Lac La Hache, Karen Duquette quickly snapped two photos of Lillooet Lake through the closed window of the moving RV (the window was not made to open). As usual, there was not anyplace big enough for Lee Duquette to stop the 40-foot RV for photographs, even though the scenery was so beautiful..

SPECIAL COMMENTS & PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS OF THE TWO RV GYPSIES

When making reservations over the telephone, the two RV Gypsies immediately knew that John had an uplifting attitude and would be a delight to meet. Upon arrival at the campground, their first impression of John was confirmed because he has an extremely pleasant personality that looks for the best in every situation.

Big Country Campground used to be a KOA, but is now privately owned and operated. It is a small campground. Their site map shows sites up to number 42, but some numbers appeared not to be listed on the map. There are only a few 50 amp sites, and the two RV Gypsies were lucky enough to get one. They list TV Reception on their paperwork, but the two RV Gypsies only got two analog stations to come in via antenna. On their second day there, the two RV Gypsies noticed that the RV that was parked next to them had left and they had a cable box, so Lee hooked up to it and got a few more TV stations in, but they did not come in clearly.

John gave the two RV Gypsies a code for the Wi-Fi, but it was so excruciatingly slow, that the two RV Gypsies gave up on using it. Then on the second day, the Wi-Fi worked OK. The pool was closed, but if open, the hours were listed as 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The two RV Gypsies are not usually pool people anyway. The two RV Gypsies did not check out any of the other amenities other than their site, which was full hook-ups and nice, but near the road, so of course there was road noise all the time.

Check-out time was 11 a.m. The campground kept its gates open all day, but to maintain campground security, the gate at the front entrance may be closed and locked at 11 p.m. All visitors must be out of the park at that time. Most standard campground rules apply.

While Lee Duquette was checking in at the office, Karen Duquette photographed a few games and the attached laundry room, even though she knew they would not be using either one. There was also a recreation hall.

Just as Karen Duquette went to take a picture of their RV site from the back, Lee Duquette drove their toad into the photo. At this time, no other RV was around, but of course, other RVs came in later.

Just a short distance down the street from the campground, the two RV Gypsies stopped at Lac La Hache Provincial Park for a picnic lunch. It was the only thing they found to do in the area.

This restaurant was about five miles down the street from Big Country Campground and RV Park. The food was excellent. Service was excellent. The two RV Gypsies chose to sit on the elevated patio outside and had the area to themselves. The restaurant was log cabin style. The inside seating had a lot of people, and was a bit noisy.

On this date, the sign on the door said that the restaurant was closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Standing on the outside patio, Karen Duquette took a photo to the left and a photo looking straight out. To see these wonderful views, she had to stand up because the fencing around the outside patio was too tall to see well while sitting down and eating.
