The Two RV Gypsies: Full-Time RVers
parked their RV at Whistler RV Park and Campground
1000-1051 Highway 99
Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
July 13 - 15, 2015
phone: '604.905.2523 for reservations

This campground is nestled in the alpine forests of the spectacular Coast Mountain range and is 18 km from Whistler Village, and about a 90 minute drive to Vancouver. Wow! What a view the two RV Gypsies had out of their front window at Whistler RV Park (see photos below). The two RV Gypsies woke up each morning to the breathtaking view of Black Tusk and Whistler Mountain right from their RV.

The park provided free Wi-Fi at the site that worked relatively fast, but was not secured. The park was big rig friendly. The site that the two RV Gypsies had was extra long (the longest site they ever had in eight years of traveling in a big RV), sewer, water and 50 amp electricity, but NO TV at all. No pool. No recreation hall.

There was also free Village shuttle which the two RV Gypsies did not use. Whistler RV Park and Campground is open year-round, and occupies 104 acres, with 102 fully serviced RV sites and 44 seasonal private tent sites, bathrooms, hot showers, and a dish washing station all of which the two RV Gypsies did not use. Pets welcome at no extra charge.

The road up to the campground was quite steep and had several big curves. All-in-all one, of the most relaxing, scenic RV park the two RV Gypsies have found in the eight years of their full-time travels. (Although every now and then a train horn could be heard in the distance).

beautiful day

It was a bit cool outside, but the two RV Gypsies had lunch at the picnic table (something they seldom do) because they just wanted to enjoy the beautiful view behind their RV. Photos can not do justice to such amazing scenery.

Lee Duquette and fireweed

From where Lee Duquette was standing in the photo above, he looked down the cliff and saw the horse farm and people riding horses on the trail below, so he took a few photos.

Below: FIREWEED. Chamaenerion angustifolium is a perennial herbaceous flowering plant in the willow herb family Onagraceae. It is known in North America as fireweed and in the British Isles as rosebay willow herb. It is also known by the synonyms Chamerion angustifolium and Epilobium angustifolium. It is native throughout the temperate Northern Hemisphere, including large parts of the boreal forests.

The reddish (or pinkish) stems of this herbaceous perennial are usually simple, erect, smooth, 1-1⁄2 to 8 feet high with scattered alternate leaves. The leaves are spirally arranged, entire, narrowly lanceolate, and pinnately veined, the secondary leaf veins anastomosing, joining together to form a continuous marginal vein just inside the leaf margins. The inflorescence is a symmetrical terminal raceme that blooms progressively from bottom to top, producing a gracefully tapered shape.
