in Rock Hill, SC

Rock Hill, SC location

Rock Hill is the largest city in York County, SC and the 5th largest city in the state. It is also the 4th largest city of the Charlotte metropolitan area, behind Charlotte, Concord and Gastonia which are located in NC, unlike Rock Hill which is in SC, about 25 miles south of Charlotte. Rock Hill covers scenic riverfront views along the Catawba River and has 21 parks. Its historic downtown consists of 12 contiguous buildings built as early as 1840. The city has 43.16 square miles of which 43 square miles is land and 0.16 square miles is water. It is 676 feet above sea level and 150 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and 75 miles from the Blue Ridge Mountains. The northern limits of the city reside along Lake Wylie, a large man-made reservoir.

Showing a bit of age since 1991, the four Civitas symbolize Rock Hill's desire to drive its economy through Flame (commitment to educational excellence), Stars (creative spirit as a cultural city), Lightning bolt (pleasurable and efficient living in a functional city), and Gears (of industry).

BMX Supercross is the only Olympic-Caliber BMX Facility on the U.S. east coast. It hosts World, National, Regional and Local Races, Nothing was happening when the two RV Gypsies drove by there, but they thought their son-in-law might want to attend some events here, so they took some photos.

The two RV Gypsies had packed a picnic lunch and found two picnic tables next to the Pump House Restaurant at 575 Herrons Ferry Road in Rock Hill. So while Lee was setting up the picnic, Karen took a few photos. Of course they did not eat there since they had a picnic lunch with them. The Pump House prices are a bit too high for the two RV Gypsies, unless maybe for a special occasion in the future.

After enjoying their picnic lunch, the two RV Gypsies walked down the nearby boat ramp to see the Catawba River.

On Anthony's 8th birthday the two RV Gypsies and family walked part of the paved trails alongside the Catawba River.

At various intervals along the trail, 911 information was posted in the pathway.

Karen knelt on the ground and stuck her camera through the slots in a fence to get pictures of Anthony by the river and the big rocks. His Grandmother was nearby to keep him safe.
