The two RV Gypsies stayed at Mitchell KOA 41255 SD Highway 38 for two nights, It was a typical KOA campground. No cable TV, so only three channels came in. It did have free, unsecured Wi-Fi and nice enough sites. Only a few campground photos are posted.

Corn DudeBelow: The World's Only Corn Palace located at 604 North Main Street in Mitchell, South Dakota. This was the two RV Gypsies' second visit to the Corn Palace. And their second time to see the amazing Terry Fator.

The Corn Palace serves as a multi-use center for the community and region. The facility hosts stage shows, as well as sports events in its arena. The two RV Gypsies came here because they wanted to see Terry Fator perform again. They saw Terry Fator on America's Got Talent and in Las Vegas and really enjoyed his show and his amazing talent. The World's Only Corn Palace is an outstanding structure which stands as a tribute to the agricultural heritage of South Dakota.

The original Corn Palace, called "The Corn Belt Exposition" was established in 1892. Early settlers displayed the fruits of their harvest on the building exterior in order to prove the fertility of South Dakota soil. The third and present building was completed for it first festival at the present location in 1921. The exterior decorations are completely stripped down and new murals are created each year. The theme is selected by the Corn Palace Festival Committee and murals are designed by a local artist. The current Corn Palace built in 1921 was designed by Rapp and Rapp the same architects used to design New York Radio City Music Hall.

Over 275,000 ears of Corn are used in the decorating the outside of the Corn Palace each year. Each year the Corn Palace is redecorated, selecting a new theme and new designs. All the colors of corn are naturally grown with special seed raised just for the Corn Palace. Each color must be planted in separate fields to maintain its pure color. Below are just a few photos taken of photos on the walls inside the Corn Palace showing how the Corn Palace changes as years go by.

If you enjoyed this Corn Palace page, you may want to check out the first visit the two RV Gypsies went to the Corn Palace in 2009
AND
the third time they were at the Corn Palace in 2016. Each trip was totally different.

Each of these pages has a link back here. Because you really need to continue on below to see Terry Fator.

The two RV Gypsies went to see Terry Fator perform at the Corn Palace. They had seen him in Las Vegas, and Karen Duquette is perhaps his #1 fan because he is so talented. The show at the Corn Palace was quite different from the show in Las Vegas, but both shows were wonderful. The show at the Corn Palace was the story of his life, how he went from being a janitor to winning America's Got Talent, to having his own show in Las Vegas. It seems that Las Vegas sends him on the road in the summer to promote Vegas and himself. It was an interesting story. As usual Terry Fator performed with some of his puppets. He is an amazing ventriloquist, and can impersonate famous singers with amazing accuracy, both male and female. At the Corn Palace, Terry Fator did a lot of singing with puppets. In Las Vegas, his act was centered on the puppets, not his life, and not Las Vegas. There is always a lot of comedy in his acts, and the audience gets to laugh a lot. The two RV Gypsies highly recommend everyone in the world to go see Terry Fator wherever and whenever they get the chance.

Below the 2013 photos are links to three other Terry Fator performances. - NOT TO BE MISSED!
