The
Two RV Gypsies: Full-Time RVers hiked at Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Pineville, KY to see the famous Chained Rock (as listed in roadsideamerica.com) June 1, 2013 |
Although the trail to Chained Rock was only a 1/2 mile EASY trail, there were a few stairs towards the end of the trail. The steps shown in the photo below on the right were the only hard part of this hike. Some people climbed up the boulder to reach the top of the boulder, but the two RV Gypsies did NOT. Instead, they took the easier trail to the right of the boulder, which brought them to the back side and bottom of the boulder. |
Below: Please take time to read the sign below about the Chained Rock. |
Below: The photos below were taken from the trail in-between and below the two chained rocks. |
Below: Karen Duquette sitting on a ledge under one of the big boulders. |
Below: The two RV Gypsies walked around the other boulder and Karen Duquette got up the rock by sliding on her butt, rather than walking upright. Lee Duquette was able to use a zoom lens to get a nice photo of Karen sitting on top of the rock at the end of The Chain. Lee did not climb up onto the rock. |
Below: From where Karen Duquette was sitting, she could see someone on top of the other boulder, a place the two RV Gypsies did NOT go (remember the earlier photo with the steps that went straight up to the top of the boulder) |
Below: The two RV Gypsies enjoyed a nice view from a picnic table just outside of the park. |
