2008 - The beginning of a lifetime change

1a.
January 2008 - After selling their house and most of their belongings,
Karen and Lee Duquette lived in their RV at Markham Park in Broward
County, Florida for a few months. Check
out the alligator, iguana and more in their backyard (#1 on the above
map) |

March 1, 2008 - Karen and Lee Duquette took their grandchildren
to Billie Swamp Safari In Clewiston,
Florida because they knew it would be awhile before they saw family
once they started their RV travel. (They also went Billie Swamp Safari
in 2016 with friends from Indiana. - both sections are connected). |

Lee Duquette had been advised to take short trips
in the RV to be sure everything was working correctly. So it was off
to Orlando in the RV. |
|
While in the Orlando area, of course, Karen and Lee visited their
son Brian Duquette at his home, each evening after Brian got off work.
Then it was time to go back to Broward County, Florida for their granddaughters
birthday celebration, and say "We love you and will see you
at Thanksgiving" to their beautiful daughter and grandchildren.
Finally, Karen and Lee Duquette headed out in their RV for their first
trip (other than the test run in Orlando which was shown above.)

May 10-11, 2008 - The two RV Gypsies left Orlando on May 12, 2008 after
spending two days, including spending Mothers Day (May 11) with their
wonderful son, Brian Lee Duquette and saying "We
love you and we will see you at Thanksgiving." They made a
short stop for a few hours at The Villages to visit some friends, Ed
and Athalie - NO PHOTOS were taken at the Village. |

May 12- May 13, 2008: Suwannee River Music Park and Campground in Live
Oak, Florida, near the Georgia border. A short, but fun stop while heading
north up the east coast .Check

4. May 13, 2008 - a quick overnight rest stop at North Shore Resort
in Greensboro, with some great photos that can be found by choosing
#4 on the map above. (Note: Two RV Gypsies returned here on May
14, 2010 and those photos are on #54 on the 2010 map.) |
5.
May 14 - May 17, 2008 - Horseshoe
Trails Camping Resort - Cleveland, Georgia and a visit to Karen's
friend, Dottie who lives in Georgia. They also went to Babyland: the
home of the Cabbage Patch Dolls, and then they went on to Anna Ruby
Falls. This is an area that the two RV Gypsies have been to many times
and additional photos can be found on the 2009 map site #47 |

May 17, 2008 - Travel Resorts of America, Jackson Springs, North Carolina
- This was just an overnight rest stop, and the only photo the two RV
Gypsies took was lovely Sycamore trees at the entrance. Check

7.
May 18 - May 23, 2008 - TWO pages -- The two RV Gypsies stopped at Pohick
Bay Regional Park on the Potomac River in Northern Virginia, plus The
Claude Moore Colonial Farm at Turkey Run and the quaint town of Occoquan.

8. May 23 - June 3, 2008 - The two RV Gypsies went to Branch Brook Campground
in Thomaston, CT. Then they visited Lee's relatives, plus Sandra, Karen's
friend since 2nd grade, and Karen's friend Tom in Stratford. They tried
to visit Karen's cousins Ronnie and Dickie and their families but were
unable to reach them by phone to set up a visit. Check

9b.
June 10 - June 28, 2008: Lee stayed at Tohickson Family Campground,
Quakertown, Pennsylvania while Karen Duquette flew to Stockholm,
Sweden to visit, Monica and Bitte, line-dance friends who live in
Stockholm.

10.
June 29-July 12, 2008: The two RV Gypsies parked at Old Mill Run Park
in Thornton, Indiana so they could visit Sharon, their maid-of-honor
from almost 43 years ago. The trip was cut short early on the morning
of July 5th because they got a phone call from an Orlando Florida detective
informing them that their son was robbed and murdered in his own home.
