Karen and Lee Duquette have sold their home and most of their belongings. While waiting for Lee Duquette to retire so they could hit the road full-time, they lived in their RV in Markham Park, Broward County, FLorida, so they would still be near their family and friends.

Of course they will return to Florida for a few months in the winter, but that will NOT make them "snowbirds" because (a) they don't have a home elsewhere and (b) they lived in Florida for 40 years, so they will always claim Florida as their home, even though they will be travelling to other states in their RV. (c) Plus they pay for a campground in Florida all year round even if they are not there. And they will keep a Florida license.

Markham Park, Sunrise/Weston, Florida is a nice size county park, and the people in the office were very helpful and friendly. However, it is not just a campground, so when the park holds a special event, everyone entering the park, including RVers, wait in line to get into the park for an hour or more because so many locals participate in these special events. During those times, the two RV Gypsies do not leave the park unless they leave early morning and return late evening. Also since it is not just a campground, there are no activity buildings. The pool is open to the public but only open certain times of the year, and it costs on a daily basis to everyone, including RVers who are paying to camp or park at Markham Park. There is a nice dog park there, a target range (which can be heard in most motorhomes), a model airplane flying field, and a berm to hike on.
