The 25-foot high
Chippewa Falls are right along Highway 17, about 30 miles north of Sault
Ste. Marie and about 90 miles south of Wawa. This is a complicated falls
consisting of several drops. The Chippewa Falls are wide and cascading.
The falls can be safely viewed from the bridge and there is a roadside
park and a trail alongside the falls. |

Below: The two RV Gypsies walked into the parking lot, then up the trail along side of the Chippewa Falls. They were able to get a few photos looking down onto Chippewa Falls before the mosquitoes started biting them. |
|
Below: Although trying to get out of the wooded area and away from the mosquitoes, Karen Duquette quickly snapped a picture of a tree with a giant hole in it, most likely made by a big woodpecker. |
|
Below: In the parking lot next to Chippewa Falls, there was a plaque that marks the half-way point of the Trans-Canada Highway. The plaque described Dr. Perry E. Doolittle, who is considered “Father of the Trans-Canada Highway” and was said to be the first man in Canada to own a car. |
|
The plaque below states "Erected by The Ontario Motor League in memory of Dr. Perry E. Doolittle - Father of Trans Canada Highway 1964" |
