LInville is an unincorporated community in Avery County, North Carolina. Centered just south of US 221 and NC 105. The community is known as a summer mountain resort and host of the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, the largest modern Highland games in North Carolina.

The trees below were so beautiful that Karen Duquette had to get out of the car to photograph these trees near a house. These were the best colors of the day.

Banner Elk is a quaint mountain village between the Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain ski areas (a top North Carolina Ski Town). It is home to Lees-McRae College, a beautiful historic campus at the highest elevation of any college east of the Mississippi (3,700 ft.). Nearby is Grandfather Mountain and the popular Mile High Swinging Bridge.
