Note: After riding Top Thrill Dragster and other rides here at Cedar Point, Karen Duquette feels that all roller coasters at other parks are lame. This is only her personal opinion. After Cedar Point, the two RV Gypsies went to Six Flags New England. Superman: Ride of Steel has been re-done and is now Bizarro. Karen rode Bizarro several times at Six Flags New England. In Karen's opinion, Bizarro is the only roller coaster worth riding at Six Flags New England, but no roller coaster comes close to Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. Guess Karen is simply spoiled by Cedar Point. Scroll down to find out why.

WOW
As of this date in 2011, Top Thrill Dragster is the second tallest roller coaster in the world (420 feet), and also the third fastest roller coaster in the world (120 mph). Karen Duquette rode it 8 times each day. After her third ride, her grandson Alex got brave enough to join her. Lee Duquette was still under doctor's orders not to ride roller coasters, so he did not. That enabled him to take photos and videos. Lee does not like roller coasters anyway.

Top Thrill Dragster - watch the video in the sub-menu below -

Hydraulic launch rocket coaster
Height: 420 feet
Featured coaster element: 420-foot tall top hat tower, with 90-degree ascent and descent
Ride time: 30 seconds
When it debuted in 2003, Top Thrill Dragster was the highest and fastest roller coaster in the world. The similar Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure has since eclipsed it, although not by much. Like all rocket coasters, Top Thrill Dragster is all about the hang-on-for-your-dear-life launch. It's over so quickly, riders barely have the time to fret over being so high off the ground. The epitome of a thrilling ride. Insane acceleration, speed, height, and drop.

Karen Duquette's Rating on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the best - the Top Thrill Dragster gets a 9+ as the only thing that could make it better would be to make the time on the ride longer, otherwise it would have received a rating of 10 because it is the best ride in Cedar Point or anywhere else Karen has been. And Karen is a hand-up, roller-coaster freak.

Millennium Force is the 8th fastest roller coaster in the world at 93 mph and has an 85-degree first drop. Millennium Force uses an elevator cable instead of a lift chain to quickly move its trains up its mammoth 310-foot hill. It broke 10 world records when it opened in 2000 and continues to deliver ultimate thrills to those who challenge it. Dive to the ground at an 80-degree angle and reach speeds of 93 mph during your two-minute journey.

Length 6,595'
Ride Time 2 minutes, 0 seconds
Ride has three trains, nine cars per train, four riders per car.
Karen's Rating on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the best - the Millennium Force gets a 8. This is Karen's third favorite ride at Cedar Point. It was Alex's favorite.

Wicked Twister is the tallest and fastest double-twisting IMPULSE coaster in the world. Located right on the sandy Cedar Point Beach, Wicked Twister launches riders back and forth and into two, 450-degree twists at each end of the track. Watch the video in the sub-menu below -

Riders are sent to new heights in fun while suspended below the track with their feet dangling. Riders are launched five times by linear induction motors.
Height 215 feet
Length 2,700'
Ride Time 0 minutes, 40 seconds
Speed 72 mph
Year Opened 2002

Karen's Rating on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the best - the Wicked Twister gets an 8. This is Karen's second favorite ride at Cedar Point and Alex's fourth favorite ride at Cedar Point.

Maverick's tallest point is only 105 feet.

After speeding up the lift hill, then to a vertical 95-degree first drop riders are treated to twists, turns, airtime hills, a "Twisted Horseshoe Roll" maneuver and a 400-foot-long speed launch through a dark tunnel with a slight pause followed by a launch to 70 mph.
Height 105 feet
Length 4,450'
Ride Time 2 minutes, 30 seconds
Ride Vehicles Six trains, three cars per train, four riders per car.

Maverick was voted the "Best New Attraction" in 2007 by the readers of Amusement Today, a leading amusement industry publication. This was Karen's fourth favorite ride.

Mantis is the park's stand-up roller coaster - you stand while riding! Karen did not like this roller coaster very much because it shook her head too much. That is also the reason Karen doesn't ride too many wooden roller coasters.

Mantis climbs 145 feet into the air before diving into a 119-foot-tall giant loop, followed by a 103-foot-tall dive loop, an inclined loop and a flat spin maneuver. Speed 60 mph.

Magnum XL-200
Magnum XL-200 is a landmark at Cedar Point. Built as the first coaster in the world to top 200 feet, the Magnum travels along the Cedar Point Beach and right along the shores of Lake Erie.

In addition to the multiple hills, its 72-mph speed, a unique "pretzel" turn-around and three tunnels, you can see Canada from the top of the lift hill on a clear day!
Height 205 feet
Length 5,106'
Ride Time 2 minutes, 0 seconds
Speed 72 mph
Year Opened 1989

Iron Dragon Features Two unique lift hills, cars that swing from side to side, final twist over a lagoon.
Height 76 feet
Length 2,800'
Manufacturer Arrow Dynamics
Ride Time 2 minutes, 0 seconds
Ride Vehicles Three trains, seven cars per train, four riders per car.
Speed 40 mph
Year Opened 1987
Karen's Rating on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the best - the Iron Dragon gets a 2 because Karen likes speed, twists, and turns and loops that this one lacked.

Skyhawk

Swoop down on the midway on the world's tallest swing ride. Two giant arms with 20 riders each, swing opposite of each other, reaching a height of 125 feet! Powered with pneumatics, Skyhawk swings smoothly and comfortably at speeds of 60 mph in both directions. Karen and Alex both liked this ride.

maXair

Opened in 2005, maXair provides the amazing sensation of airtime. 50 riders strap in with their feet dangling below as the giant ring they're seated in starts to spin. Then, the ring is set into a pendulum motion, reaching a height of 140 feet! Fly back and forth during this 2-minute, 30-second ride. Karen Duquette enjoyed this ride and just found it relaxing with a great view. Alex would not go on it, and again, Lee Duquette was unable to go on rides.

Disaster Transport took Karen and Alex through time and space - and in complete darkness! Disaster Transport featured a track unlike any other at Cedar Point. Karen and Alex climbed aboard a10-passenger car that ride in a U-shaped trough (similar to a bobsled). However, its height was only 63 feet and it traveled at only 40 mph. Nothing impressive if you are a real thrill seeker like Karen.
