The Two RV Gypsies: Full-Time RVers
went to Wisconsin Dells for a jet boat ride
September 27, 2009
USA map showing location of Wisconsin
On this date, the office at Wisconsin Dells, KOA closed daily from noon to 4 P.M. The note on the door said to pick an unoccupied site and check-in when the office opens. This was a nice park with a laundromat, store and recreation room, and pay phones (which the two RV Gypsies usually do not use). The brochure said there are 5 local TV channels, but the two RV Gypsies were unable to connect to any of them. There was free Wi-Fi. However, it was a very noisy park with trains and train whistles during the night. This seems to be a standard for so many of the KOA parks that the two RV Gypsies stayed at.

sad crying face with an umbrellaBelow: The two RV Gypsies, plus 8 other passengers got on the boat about 15 minutes before the scheduled take-off time, and waited for the Captain to arrive. Just as it was time to take-off, it started raining. All the passengers remained in the boat and put on raincoats waiting for the Captain. He finally came about 10 minutes later and said the jet boat ride was canceled. No one was happy, but of course, everyone got a refund. The captain really should have come down to the boat in a more timely manner.

Below; Signs on the trail reminding everyone to tip the Captain of the jet boat - but since the weather did not allow the jet boat to take off, the Captain did not get any tips on this day. Plus he took his time notifying the passengers that were waiting for him on the boat. DUH!

Below; The two RV Gypsies did NOT reschedule the jet boat ride, as they were due to leave town in the morning. They might have extended their stay, but the weather forecast was rain for the next several days. What a disappointment.
