Thunder Bay is the largest
urban center in Northwestern Ontario. The city lies at the Canadian
Lakehead on Lake Superior and is strategically situated at the geographical
center (east-west) of Canada. As a regional center for industry, shopping,
services, recreation and educational opportunities, the city has transportation
services by both major Canadian railway systems as well as highway connections
west to Winnipeg, east to Sault Ste. Marie and Toronto, and south to
Minneapolis and Chicago. |

The drive to
Thunder Bay Lookout was an experience not to be forgotten by the two
RV Gypsies because they had to drive on a long gravel road that was
not well maintained. The final part of the road was a rock surface and
VERY bumpy. The two RV Gypsies parked their truck and walked a short
distance to the lookout which was quite breathtaking. They stood on
top of a cliff; a deck and steelwork that allowed them to stand over
the cliff high above ground and enjoy spectacular views over Lake Superior.
It's not only the view, the silence was awesome too. And luckily, the
two RV Gypsies had the area all to themselves, as they did with many
places they have been to this trip. |
