The
Two RV Gypsies: Full-Time RVers at Swissair Flight 111 Memorial |
Swissair Flight 111was on a scheduled airline flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, USA to Cointrin International Airport in Geneva, Switzerland. On September 2, 1998 the aircraft crashed into the Atlantic Ocean southwest of Halifax International Airport at the entrance to St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia. The crash site was 5 miles from shore, between the tiny fishing and tourist communities of Peggy's Cove and Bayswater. All 229 people on board were killed. Its pilot reported smoke in the cockpit and attempted an emergency landing at Halifax International Airport. The two RV Gypsies visited the memorial site on September 3, 2011 - 13 years and 1 day after the date of the crash. |

Although this is a memorial
site of a very sad occasion when lives were lost, the scenery is absolutely
amazing. |

The
Lighthouse at Peggy's Cove can be seen in the distance. This is the next destination of the two RV Gypsies. |
