Karen Duquette met Monica Ekedahl, who lives in Sweden, while line dancing in Florida and they became friends. Monica owns an apartment in Florida so she visits Florida for several months each year, and she spends part of that time with Karen, including several New Years Eve celebrations.

Karen and Lee Duquette became two RV Gypsies in January 2008 after selling their house in Florida, and that is when they moved permanently into an RV and lived in Markham Park while waiting for Lee to retire. Karen was already retired. During this time, Monica invited Karen to visit her in Sweden, and so a date was set for June 13, 2008 when Monica would be back in Sweden. But Lee got to retire just before that date so they "hit the road" in their RV, at the end of April 2008. Lee did not object to Karen keeping the date to go to Sweden, so he remained in Tohickson Campground in Pennsylvania while Karen visited Monica in Sweden.

However, shortly after Karen returned from her trip to Sweden, her son, Brian Duquette was murdered on July 4, 2008. So understandably the Sweden pictures were quickly forgotten.

Sometime in 2009, while wintering in Florida with family, Karen decided to build a website of their travels, (this website of course) and she started with family photos in January 2008, since they lived in their RV at that time. She did not think to post the trip to Sweden since it did not involve RV travel. Finally in 2023, Karen found the Sweden photos and decided to add them to her website (this page). Unfortunately she could not find the notes about the places. So that is why there is a lack of information on several of the below pages, but they can still be enjoyable. And Karen cherishes the memories with Monica.
