with her Swedish friend Monica Ekedahl
sight-seeing plus shows and concerts

Sweden,
formally known as the Kingdom of Sweden, is a Nordic country located
on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. It borders Norway
to the west and north, Finland to the east, and is connected to Denmark
in the southwest by a bridge–tunnel across the Øresund.
At 450,295 square kilometres (173,860 square miles), Sweden is the largest
Nordic country and the fifth-largest country in Europe. The capital
and largest city is Stockholm. Nature in Sweden is dominated by forests
and many lakes, including some of the largest in Europe. Many long rivers
run from the Scandes range, primarily emptying into the northern tributaries
of the Baltic Sea. It has an extensive coastline and most of the population
lives near a major body of water. With the country ranging from 55°N
to 69°N, the climate of Sweden is diverse due to the length of the
country. |

of stairs.

Swedish people do a lot of walking, taking busses,
trolleys and trains. While on one train, Karen and Monica could not
find seats together. When the train stopped, Monica got off. Karen
noticed so she stood up too, but someone got in front of Karen, so
she could not get off right behind Monica. Karen's short legs took
a bit of time to catch up with Monica. The scary thought of being
lost in Stockholm struck Karen. Monica was not used to anyone being
with her, and really was not aware that Karen was almost lost in the
crowd.

Below: Various concerts in Sweden on different days.
This first one was when Monica, Bitte and Karen just sat in the grass
outside of a Dolly Parton Concert on June 13, 2008. Dolly could be heard
but not seen of course. (This tour for Dolly also included performances
in the United Kingdom, Denmark , Norway and the Netherlands.) |

listening to Dolly Parton singing. It was a fun day. |

The next show was at an outdoor amphitheater. Karen
Duquette is not sure who the performer was, but he was entertaining
and a lot of people enjoyed the show. It was another free show and it
became standing room only by the time Karen Duquette and Monica Ekedahl
arrived. If anyone knows who this performer or the singers below are,
please contact Karen. Thank you. |

concert, which began with a band off to the side. |
