Two RV Gypsies: Full-Time RVers at Ohiopyle Falls in Ohiopyle State Park on Main Street / Route 381 in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania 15470 June 13, 2021 |
After parking their toad in the parking lot, the two RV Gypsies took a short walk down some stairs to The Laurel Highlands Visitor Center and restroom. While there, Karen Duquette took a photo of the information sign and Greenhouse Roof on top of the Visitor Center. |

Below: Then the two RV Gypsies took a short walk to see Ohiopyle Falls. |

The name Ohiopyle comes from the Native American term ohiopehhla which means white, frothy water. The Ohiopyle Falls is said to be one of the most visited and photographed tourist attractions in the Laurel Highland. It is near Cucumber Falls (which the two RV Gypsies visited earlier) which claims to be THE most photogenic waterfall in western Pennsylvania. There are three observation decks with a view of the nearly 20-foot Ohiopyle Falls. They are positioned at various angles and heights. The Youghiogheny River appears to be calm below the falls, but there is more white water river below. |
|
Below: The Ferncliff Peninsula on the opposite shore looks wild and remote with its thick vegetation broken by large rocks. |
|
After viewing the falls, the two RV Gypsies decided to get something to eat. While walking around they saw this amazing mural at the bottom of a walk bridge. |
