July 30, 1965 - Karen Rasmussen (who was in the U.S. Navy) asked Lee Duquette (a U.S. Marine) to be her date at the Waves Anniversary Party. Sharon Melander and her date (also a U.S. Marine) was with them.


November 10, 1965, Lee Duquette asked Karen Rasmussen to the Marine Corps. Ball and that is when Lee asked Karen to marry him. Sharon Melander was with them once again, along with her date, Ron.



NOTE: Lee and Karen have remained friends with Sharon through all the years even after moving to different states. And they visit them as often as possible.
