The City of Houston in British Columbia claims to have the biggest rod and reel in the world. Unfortunately, the only photo Karen Duquette could get was through the window of their moving RV. There was no place to park their big RV, and Lee Duquette probably would not have stopped anyway.

SPECIAL COMMENTS & PERSONAL OBSERVATIONSsmiley face
O F THE TWO RV GYPSIES

This is one of the nicest campgrounds that the two RV Gypsies have stopped at. It is located right off Highway 16 in the city of Telkwa, in-between Houston and Smithers. Although it was up for sale and things may change, at this time the two RV Gypsies highly recommend this campground. Below are several reasons why the two RV Gypsies think this is a great RV Park.

bullet There was a free high-pressure RV Wash to clean off the front of their RV and toad.

bullet The price was the same or less than other campgrounds and had more amenities.

bullet Fast Wi-Fi with 10 GB (and FTP access), with password: this has been unheard of anyplace else.

bullet 66 channels on the TV that came in clearly, including a channel with a TV guide.

bullet 50 amp full hook-up was available. This is not common in Canada and even in a lot of the US.

bullet Hot showers, restrooms, SAUNA, plus a coin laundry in a locked building. (get a key)

bullet Smoking not permitted in or around any building.

bullet Boat launch area into Bulkley River

bullet a 10-minute walking trail to Telkwa

bullet friendly, polite person (the owner on this date) in the small office.

bullet gravel/dirt roads and sites with grass at sites, picnic table in good shape, and fire pit.

bullet one negative - not the fault of the campground - a few trains came by with loud horns.

Check-out time was 11 a.m. There was no pool, but the two RV Gypsies do not use pools anyway, and the other Canadian campgrounds that the two RV Gypsies have visited did not have pools either. Pets allowed on leash, but not in the shower building. Firewood and laundry soap for sale in the office which is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Quiet hours after 10 p.m.

The two RV Gypsies took a short walk down the hill to Bulkley River, past two very large fishing tents (they had electricity plus a big refrigerator inside each tent). Then they walked over a short bridge to see the river.
