The
Two RV Gypsies: Full-Time RVers |
This is the most scenic place the two RV Gypsies have been to on this entire trip, so far. Although they had to pay each day to drive on the Icefield Parkway, it was more than worth the money. The scenery was amazing and there was lots of wildlife. |
From Jasper, the two RV Gypsies drove east via Yellowhead Highway 16, which was a very scenic view. The stretch of Highway 93 between Lake Louise and Jasper is called the Icefield Parkway and it's one of the most scenic drives in North America, traversing Alberta's Banff and Jasper National Parks in the central Canadian Rockies. The Icefield Parkway accesses campgrounds and major attraction in Jasper and Banff National Parks.
Stopping alongside the highway shortly after leaving Jasper, Karen walked down a path to observe some of the most beautiful scenery. This was just the start of the two RV Gypsies saying "WOW" around almost every corner.
The two photos below are actually the same area, but facing the opposite directions, even into the sun.
Below: Across the street,
Lee Duquette signaled to Karen Duquette to come film what was lurking. |

Below: Wow - it was even
more beautiful on this side of the street - Talbot Lake- |

Below: The two RV Gypsies continued down the road, although they felt like they could stay and enjoy the scenery here forever. |

came across a beautiful glacier and Karen Duquette just sat and admired
the scenery. |

they did. |

Around the corner, the two RV Gypsies came to Icefield Centre on the east side of the highway. It features Parks Canada interpretive displays about the Columbia Icefield as well as information services, food, lodging, restroom and public phones. The centre is open May 1 to October 15. Snowcoach tours of glaciers were available (see the photo below). Parking for glacier views on west side of highway provided the photos below. The glaciers visible from the road are fingers of the giant Columbia Icefield, which covers 241 square miles.
