The Green
425 S. Tyron Street
Charlotte, NC 28202

The Green is a prominent urban park and gathering space located in Uptown Charlotte, along South Tyron on Street. Established in 1776 on the site of the city’s original public square, the park occupies what was once part of Charlotte’s early settlement layout, making it one of the oldest civic spaces in the city. Its name reflects the traditional concept of a communal “green” where residents could meet, celebrate, and relax.

The Green is notable for its focus on art. Temporary, public art is often on display, particularly in the summer.

Below: Easter Eggs on Parade celebrates the creativity of local artists with a dazzling display of 11 giant eggs. Drawing inspiration from iconic bejeweled eggs, each oversized masterpiece reflects the artist’s unique interpretation of the Charlotte SHOUT! theme: “curiosity.” This vibrant group highlights the incredible talent of our community, blending artistry and wonder in a one-of-a-kind installation.

Below: FISH by Doyle Bussey is a playful, interactive sculpture designed to spark curiosity and connection. Made from recycled translucent 55-gallon plastic drums and steel wire repurposed from old political signs, the piece transforms previously manufactured materials into something lively and new. By day, Fish can blow bubbles, adding a sense of surprise and wonder. (But no bubble were seen on this date)
