Emma Sanson Statue in downtown Gadsden was erected in 1906 by the
United Daughters of the Confederacy to honor her assisting Confederate
General Nathan Bedford Forrest. In 2020, there were calls to remove this
monument due to its Confederate association, but it was still here in
2026 when Lee Duquette drove past it. |

Below: The Etowah
County Law Enforcement Memorial at 800 Forrest Avenue in Gadsden, Alabama.
It is a granite monument with names of law enforcement officers killed
in the line of duty and was unveiled in May 1998 at Noccalula Falls Park
but now sits on the grounds of the Etowah County Courthouse on South 8th
Street side. The creation of the Law Enforcement Memorial board was founded
in 1999 by officers and family members of slain officers. |
